The Peter Herdic House Gourmet Restaurant, Williamsport, PA

Built in 1854 as a residence for Peter Herdic, a Williamsport lumber baron, the house was restored in 1982-83. In 1984, the Herdic House Restaurant opened its doors, and, from the beginning, we have tried to combine a respect and love for Williamsport’s historic heritage with a passion for fine food.

To see our history, you’re welcome to tour the three floors of the restaurant. Be sure to note our bar, in the rear of the building, created from the witness stand of the demolished county courthouse, and the fan taken from the same building. The ornate first floor moldings and the acanthus-leafed fluted columns on the porches are original to the building, and the intriguing three-story chandelier has captivated many visitors.

After appreciating the beautiful surroundings, we’re sure you’ll enjoy your meal. We strive to use the best and the freshest ingredients available, and to us that usually means buying from our local community.

Local producers we purchase from throughout the year include: Milky Way Farm (milk, cream), Beech Grove Farm (organic vegetables), Wolf Hollow Farm (vegetables, eggs), Gobbler Knoll Farm (vegetables), Tewksbury Grace Farm (shiitake mushrooms, vegetables), Tebbs Farms (vegetables), Toy Cow Farm (eggs), Cow-a-Hen Farm (chicken, pork), Beaver Run Farm (bacon), Eck’s Orchard (fruit), Wild for Salmon and the Northern Tier Sustainable Meat Cooperative.

In addition to using Pennsylvania products, we strive to serve a truly Pennsylvanian cuisine. From venison to morel mushrooms, our kitchen offers a taste of Pennsylvania with every dish. We hope that our food is not only delicious, but unique, and we always prepare our meals to order.

Bon Appetit,
Marcia and Gloria Miele, owner
